Cologne bottle echoes art deco architecture

Van Cleef & Arpels’ new In New York cologne pays homage to art deco architecture, pulling influence from the New York streets and skyline.

Pw 189686 Brandimage Vca In New York

French jeweler Van Cleef & Arpels has introduced new cologne for men called In New York, with packaging for the fragrance designed by global brand consultancy Brandimage.

As a tribute to the art deco architectural tradition of New York, where Van Cleef & Arpels has had its own boutique since 1942 in the heart of Manhattan, Brandimage imagined an encounter between the famous jeweler and the city that never sleeps, through the design of the packaging for In New York.

The cologne bottle was designed as an architectural piece, made out of steel and glass, echoing the geometric force of Manhattan’s skyline and the ascending verticality of skyscrapers that create the symbol of elegance and urban creativity.

Brandimage designed a block of glass with a sleek geometrical look, circled with a steel rim and a gradient smoky grey glazing, reminiscent of the giant windows of the skyline. The coldness of the glass contrasts with a soft, rubber cap. The color palette and the choice of materials express the harmony of glass, metal, and tar.
