Cryogenic cooling of heat-set PET awaits patents
The technology's not commercial yet, and it certainly has its skeptics. Test results show that thermal and barrier properties are enhanced significantly by blowing PET into heated molds and cooling with LN2 delivered by a unique new system.

Millennium Petrochemicals Inc. (Cincinnati, OH) plans to shut down its HDPE production plant in La Porte, TX, by the end of 1998. The company will add 200 million lb/yr of LDPE and LLDPE capacities by the end of 2001 by debottlenecking existing reactors in Clinton, IA, Port Arthur and La Porte, TX.
