Soy health claims

FDA has proposed allowing a health claim on packages of foods containing soy protein. But at 34 and 31 words respectively, FDA's suggested claims are too long, says the National Food Processors Assn.

and the American Frozen Food Institute. In comments to the agency, NFPA said an abbreviated claim that refers to a full claim elsewhere on the label should be allowed. As an example, it offered "x grams soy protein per serving for heart health. See back label for more information."
