Vertical Bagger's Cross Seal Drive Runs 300 bpm in Small Footprint

The core innovation of Syntegon's SVX platform is a cross-seal drive with four independently controlled servo motors.

The new SVX v/f/f/s bagger from Syntegon, part of the North American launch of Syntegon's SVX platform, brings several distinctive features to the table. Two SVX machines were on display—the SVX Agile (demonstrated in the video above) and the SVX Duplex. The SVX Agile is designed for high-speed production of 300 bags/min with one film lane and has the ability to handle the full bag range of any vf/f/s need. The Agile's patent-pending cross-seal control allows for custom and accurate sealing pressure. The SVX Duplex can produce 600 bags/min—due to two accessible film lanes—while still maintaining a compact footprint for seamless production integration. The platform is user-friendly, allowing for easy and quick changeovers and adjustments.

What really sets SVX bagger apart from other v/f/f/s systems is its cross-seal drive system. Designed to enhance the efficiency and reliability of the bagging process, the solution gives manufacturers full control over the vertical and horizontal movement, ensuring reliable seals. Thanks to a combination of four motors and low inertia, the drive contributes to achieving highest outputs.

Another notable aspect of the SVX bagger is its compact design. Here’s how they keep the footprint small. The machine's moving parts are all contained within what Syntagon has termed the front cylinder. This design choice not only streamlines the machine's appearance but also has practical implications. The compact high-speed assembly has a smaller footprint than Syntagon's previous models. This could be a significant advantage for businesses looking to maximize their production space.

Safety and accessibility are also addressed in the SVX bagger's design. With all moving parts housed within the front cylinder, there's a reduced need for extensive guarding. This design choice means that only the front end of the machine requires guarding. As a result, operators can easily access the back end of the machine. This accessibility simplifies tasks such as film path adjustments, code date settings, printer operations, film reel loading, and film splicing. By minimizing the barriers between the operator and the machine, Syntagon aims to streamline the bagging process and reduce potential downtime.

The SVX bagger's versatility was also highlighted during the presentation. The machine is well-suited for a range of products, from snack and bakery items to fresh, frozen, and powdered products. As long as the product is dry and free-flowing, the SVX bagger can handle it. Additionally, for businesses with specific hygiene requirements, Syntagon offers versions of the SVX bagger designed for wash-down applications. PW
