DS Smith Plastics Division invests in new North America rigid packaging facility

With this new facility, DS Smith Plastics will further its positioning in North America, while responding to a growing demand of its rigid packaging products in the U.S.

DS Smith Plastics, part of packaging specialist DS Smith Plc., opened a new manufacturing facility in Romeoville, IL. The new facility is DS Smith Plastics’ first Rigid Packaging manufacturing operation in North America where there are six other Flexible Packaging manufacturing sites.

With this new facility, DS Smith Plastics will further its positioning in North America, while responding to a growing demand of its rigid packaging products in the U.S.

The new manufacturing operation is expected to start its production in the last quarter of 2017. This investment will result in the creation of new jobs and expansion of DS Smith Plastics’ current rigid packaging offer in North America. This is the seventh Rigid Packaging Extruded Products facility that will be dedicated to the production of polypropylene bubble-structure sheets for graphics, sleeves, and single-use and reusable packaging for the Automotive and Pharmaceutical markets.
