Siemens Simogear assembly plant opens in Mauldin, SC

Siemens Drive Technologies division has celebrated the Grand Opening of the Simogear assembly plant with employees, suppliers, customers, and local government officials in Mauldin, SC.

The facility consists of 45,600 sq. ft. of office and assembly space for its newly released product family of gear motors, Simogear.

The event consisted of a Siemens Science Day at Mauldin Elementary, employee appreciation luncheon and ribbon cutting ceremony with special guest speakers Deputy Secretary of Commerce George Patrick III and City of Mauldin Mayor Dennis Raines.
“It is great to have world-class companies such as Siemens expand its operations in South Carolina.  It is companies like this that help promote the economic development in our state and we hope to continue to bring more manufacturing facilities like these to South Carolina,” said Patrick.

The new facility puts Siemens closer to the machine builders and manufacturers in the Southeastern United States. “Our customers asked for short delivery times and we responded by opening this facility.  Simogear was specifically designed for the U.S. market so it was important that we were close to our customers,” explained Doug Keith, President of Siemens Drive Technologies Division, North America.

“Today is a great day in South Carolina as we celebrate this impressive milestone in Siemens Industry’s history.  Already employing more than 1,100 South Carolinians, this company gives our state so many reasons to smile, and today is no different,” says Governor Nikki Haley.

Simogear features helical, parallel shaft and helical bevel gear unit types with integral high efficient and NEMA Premium efficient motors. The new series is especially well-equipped to meet the requirements of modern conveyor systems, including those found in warehousing, logistics and distribution, airport handling, automotive manufacturing, food and beverage and metals processing.
