Ecologic Brands, Inc.’s molded fiber bottle stole this year’s Institute of Packaging Professionals’ (IoPP) AmeriStar packaging awards competition, winning both the Best of Show Award and the 3M Sustainability Award. For 2012, a new award was also launched, the Design Award for excellence in structural and graphic design. This honor was given to packaging for ROXOR Gin from TricorBraun.
These packages were just two of the more than 150 packages submitted this year for consideration in the competition. Judges evaluated and analyzed packages from 18 categories, as well as student entries, at IoPP Headquarters in Naperville, IL, in February. Judging was based on package innovation, sustainability, protection, economics, performance, and marketing.
Winning packages will be honored at the AmeriStar and IoPP Honors & Awards Dinner, in May at the Hyatt Regency O'Hare in Rosemont, IL.
