In total, 16 Chesapeake sites have now gained this certification as well as other locally recognised standards such as Imprim 'Vert in France.
Chesapeake Oss has a comprehensive environmental policy which ensures the business complies with all environmental laws and regulations. This new standard has helped to formalise these responsibilities. Anne De Middelaer, SHE Coordinator Benelux, said, “The environment is an increasingly important global issue with pressure from many sources to minimise any potential impact. We are pleased therefore to gain certification to this internationally recognised standard. ISO 14001 ensures organisations comply with mandatory environmental legislation. The standard also helps organisations to identify and understand how its operations or activities have an impact on the environment and how they can be reduced.”
Chesapeake Oss made a commitment in 2011 to seek certification of its environmental management system by SGS. The project was a result of excellent teamwork. Willem Langenhuyzen, General Manager, commented, “This fantastic achievement enables Chesapeake Oss to demonstrate its commitment to reducing its impact on the environment. It also is one of our achieved core targets for the Chesapeake 100 project. We will continue to re-assess our impact on the environment in line with the Chesapeake 100, regulatory compliance and other business objectives.”
