Cuban rum to make splash in India...

Havana Club Cuban Rum will sell its white rum in the Indian market, after a joint venture agreement was reached between the Cuban government and French alcohol beverage company Pernod Ricard.

While the rum will be made in Cuba, it will be bottled in India, after being shipped there in barrels. A launch party celebrating the introduction of the rum will showcase Cuban culture, and will include an appearance by Cuban band New Havana. In May, a Cuban delegation visited India to assess the possibility of reigniting close business ties--in the 1980s, annual bilateral trade between India and Cuba reached $300 million. Cuba is interested in selling a wide range of Cuban goods to India, including the world-renowned Cuban cigar.
