It's tea time (in Germany!)...

Two new innovations in tea packaging may boost flagging teabag sales.

Teabags have undergone an almost 5 percent decline in the last 5 years. (Loose tea sales were up by 12 percent in the same time period.) A German stickpack of tea—called Tpod—requires less tea than conventional tea bags. The perforated foil package encloses a smaller amount of tea that helps tea drinkers brew the perfect cup. Bitterness associated with too much tea per teabag is alleviated with the perfect-proportion packaging. The foil package also keeps tea extra-fresh. Another German tea innovation is the Tea Pod. Designed by Elisabeth Soos, "the Tea Pod's tag unfolds into an origami boat that floats on the surface of your tea cup." The conventional tag that often falls into the cup has been replaced with an "anchor" that keeps fingers cool.
