PW debuts custom e-mail news

Packaging World has launched a free, customized e-mail news service called eClip that delivers packaging news specific to each recipient’s job duties, industry and product.

Readers may sign up for this new information service at www.packworld.com/eclip. eClip will initially be distributed twice monthly.

A sort of electronic clipping service for packaging news, eClip draws from current and historical articles published in PW, Net Sourcing and Web-exclusive articles on Packworld.com. It then delivers only those articles that are relevant to each subscriber’s interests, based on what was specified on the eClip sign-up form mentioned above.

For example, readers with marketing duties will receive news focusing on new package designs in their product category. Those with production or engineering duties will receive machinery-oriented news, again for their specific industry. Purchasing managers will receive news on trends such as vendor consolidation. And those in R&D will receive notifications of the latest advances in packaging materials sciences.

Each eClip e-mail will consist of a handful of text briefs on relevant news, feature articles and product reviews. Each text brief will link to the complete article on the Packworld.com Web site.

The eClip newsletter is designed to complement PW’s print coverage, which will continue to encourage an exchange of packaging ideas by showcasing relevant technologies from industries that are similar to, as well as different from, that of each subscriber’s.

Although designed mainly for end users—whether or not they are PW subscribers—eClip is also available at no charge to packaging suppliers.
