Tracking those containers 'round the world. . .

Sponsored by the BBC, The Box is a year-long project that tracks a standard shipping container all over the world in an effort to "tell the story of international trade and globalization." A GPS transmitter relays the travels and travails, and anyone can follow its progress by logging onto the BBC website. Most recently, The Box ran into some "legal" trouble in Japan—after a collision in Brazil. The online news reveals much about trade practices and other differences that companies may encounter as they move their products throughout the world.
