The Malaysian Minister of Domestic Trade and
Consumer Affairs is asking that rural co-ops pay attention to packaging
when they seek to market their members' products to supermarkets.
Attractive packaging, added to consistent quality, could help the
smaller traders in rural areas increase their market penetration beyond
small-town night markets or roadside stands. Large-scale distribution
could "indirectly help increase the residents' economic level,"
according to the minister.
