A recent study found that "78% of water bottled in plastic" showed significant estrogen contamination.

Only 33% of water bottled in glass showed significant hormonal activity. The research studied mineral water available in Germany. The study concluded that there is "widespread contamination of mineral water with potent man-made estrogens that partly originate from compounds leaching out of the plastic packaging material."
