Boisset Beaujolais Nouveau 2008 bottled in plastic...

Every year wine lovers look forward to the third Thursday in November.

That's when French winery Boisset Family Estates releases its fruity fall vintage, Beaujolais Nouveau. This year, in a break from tradition, the wine will be sold in plastic bottles. The change will save 40 percent in weight per case. That means a significant savings in airfreight cost, and a dramatic reduction in carbon footprint. The bottle, manufactured by Constar International, uses a proprietary oxygen scavenging technology that protects the flavor, aroma and color of the always highly-anticipated wine.
