EU to invest 6.5 million Euros in sustainable packaging initiative...

Seventeen European organizations are investing 6.5 million Euros—9.6 million US dollars—to develop sustainable and renewable packaging materials using nanotechnology.

 The project, SustainComp, is aiming to develop "sustainable nanostructured wood-based biocomposite materials for packaging and transportation to replace oil-based products." Packaging manufacturers, chemical companies, and various associations are funding the four-year study.
