He went on to say that several Life Cycle Assessments (LCA) of food products packed in aluminum foil and flexible packaging have been completed. One study "LCA of Packed Food Products: the function of flexible packaging," examined processing, packaging and transportation to final production and packaging as well as moving products to retailers and finally consumers. The study, McDonough concludes, that aluminum and other flexible packaging is "highly resource efficient."
