No more, says Gregory Antoniadis, chairman of the union of Greek olive oil producers. With recent studies showing a possible link between olive oil consumption and reduced coronary heart disease, the promise of growing demand in the Far East and the United States has Greek producers saying they will "no longer tolerate the dominance of foreign brands that essentially contain a Greek product." Industry insiders predict slow going in closing the gap between Spanish and Italian competitors.
