In India, bottled water market is set to boil over. . .

A ban was lifted on mineral water produced and sold by Pepsi and Coca-cola in Kerala, India. Now the Kerla Water Authority (KWA), which controls the water supply network, will compete with the cola giants in the battle for bottled water sales.

The KWA will sell the bottled water to the public on a no-profit-no-loss basis. The demand for bottled water has grown significantly in all sectors of the market. Surprisingly, the price of bottled water is the same—or higher—than milk. Despite the high price of drinking and mineral water, many companies that produce the bottled waters do not meet government standards. No word on how Pepsi and Coke stack up against government-sanctioned bottled waters.
