China brands not known worldwide...

A new survey of almost 3,000 business people from more than 40 countries attending a China Export Commodity Fair, said that while they may recognize the names of Chinese companies, they are unfamiliar with the brands they produce.

Chinese brands are not well-known overseas because many Chinese companies are original equipment manufacturers (OEM), making products for others to repackage and sell. "Chinese enterprises have been very successful in expanding business overseas by providing OEM services, but those services often only generate meager profits," says the study.
