Nestlé expands into medical nutrition

Swiss-based Nestlé NA will move into the number-two position globally in the specialized hospital patient food business.

By purchasing the medical nutrition unit of Novartis AG, Nestlé will acquire nutritional brands like Boost & Resources, and Optifast diet products. The Novartis baby-food unit, Gerber Products, was not part of the deal.
