Ukrainians study U.S. packaging

While in Chicago recently for the All Candy Expo, 18 packaging professionals from confectionery, cookie, and cake manufacturing firms in Ukraine spent two days with the Institute of Packaging Professionals learning more about packaging in the United States.

The training session was customized by IoPP specifically for the group from Ukraine, and it was delivered by Packaging/Brody Inc.’s Aaron Brody, an industry consultant and member of the Packaging Hall of Fame. To keep the language barrier from preventing a real-time exchange of information and ideas, participants wore headsets and an interpreter translated Brody’s English into Ukrainian and also translated questions from the session attendees into English.

The aim was to compare and contrast packaging as it’s practiced in this country compared with how packaging is done in Ukraine.

The Ukrainian visitors capped their visit to the U.S. by touring candy and cookie plants. Included on their itinerary was a tour of Hershey Foods Corp. in Hershey, PA. —PR
