Making waves with digital label printing

Orlando, FL-based Labels in Motion, a label converter serving as an in-plant facility for its nutraceutical parent company Zymogen, installed a new digital press recently to provide customers more application options, reduce consumables costs, and capitalize on high print quality, simple color management, and comprehensive post-sale support.

The new press is an HP Indigo WS6800. Specializing in vitamins, supplements, and medicine labels, Labels in Motion was tasked with producing single-serve supplement packets for XYMOGEN®. But a digital printing system the firm had been using could not handle the substrate needed to produce the supplement packets. Labels in Motion selected the HP Indigo WS6800 Digital Press for the job because it supports a wide range of standard, off-the-shelf substrates with in-line priming as well as pre-treated materials, while also offering up to seven ink stations for a wide color gamut.

“With this press our company is now producing high-quality, single-serve supplement packets in a timely, cost effective manner using packaging materials that are approved for food safety,” said Steve Kirchof, Vice President of Sales and Operations Manager at Labels in Motion. “We considered other options, but the speed of the WS6800 press combined with the price and the ability to do one-offs for our supplements was a very enticing combination for us.”

Offering high productivity at speeds to 196 ft/min, the HP Indigo press lets Labels in Motion deliver faster turnarounds with unmatched production efficiency. The company will also be able to enter new markets and grow its business with its existing cosmetics and bath and body label customers as well as its food, beverage, and specialty label customers, providing unique flexible packaging and folding carton applications in addition to labels and sleeves.
