Schneider and Elau make announcement

Schneider Electric of Rueil-Malmaison, France, and Elau AG of Marktheidenfeld, Germany, announced on March 18 that the two firms were entering into a "close cooperation in the automation of packaging machines."

To formalize the strategic partnership, a shareholder agreement has been concluded in which Schneider Electric acquires a 46.5% stake in Elau.

ARC Advisory Group Research Director Sal Spada, an observer of the packaging machinery OEM marketplace, had this to say about the agreement between the two technology providers: "This relationship will unequivocally instill confidence in Elau’s existing and growing customer base of OEM packaging machine builders in Europe and North America. A partnership of this kind is insurance to machine builders and end users, guaranteeing that Elau’s support and service infrastructure can be expanded by leveraging Schneider Electric’s global infrastructure. Overall the two organizations will create a synergy that is a result of complementary product lines and support infrastructure."
