Glidden's container shakes up the painting process

Glidden’s new injection-molded polypropylene Quick Roll container from Superfos permits do-it-yourselfer’s to mix, paint, and store in a single container.

Pw 10682 Quick Roll

Glidden’s patented Quick Roll lets users dip paint rollers straight into the container to reduce the risk and mess of spills.

Quick Roll’s convenient size (1.85 gal rather than competitive 2.5-gal offerings) and comfortable handle make it easy to transport up and down ladders and throughout the home, says Kathy Henry, marketing communications manager for the Glidden brand from Strongsville, OH-based ICI Paints.

“Glidden revolutionized ceiling painting last year with the introduction of EZ Track Technology,” says Henry. “Now the Quick Roll container makes this process even easier. It’s the ultimate in convenience and cost savings.”

Laura Klein, senior brand manager for Glidden, says paint is filled so that there is headspace between the paint and a “grid” upon which users can roll excess paint off the roller. The 131¼2x12x61¼4” labeled container is topped with a snap-fit PP lid, also injection-molded by Superfos.

Using Quick Roll for painting involves four steps:

• Stirring the paint thoroughly in the container.

• Dipping the roller in the paint at the open end of the container.

• Rolling away excess paint on the grid; unused paint drains through the gaps in the grid into the well for future use.

• Start painting.

Glidden Quick Roll containers with Glidden Ceiling Paint with EZ Track Technology retail for about $30 at The Home Depot stores nationwide, as well as at independent hardware, paint, and regional home centers nationwide. —Jim Butschli
