A newly designed film closure in the form of a single polyester material is available in rolls from Hueck Foils (Wall, NJ). Lidding film is made of metallized PET and offers an alternative to paper/PET laminates.

Lidding usually comprises a protective lacquer, gravure or flexographic printing, primer, PET, another layer of primer, and a heat-seal lacquer. However, lidding can also be metallized, either for marketing reasons or to protect contents from light.
