Pliant sues to defend slider patents

On September 30, Pliant Corp. (Schaumburg, IL) announced that it had served several companies with patent infringement complaints relating to flexible packaging that can be resealed with a slider device.

In May, the company announced that it had been issued patent (No. 6굋꺔) covering methods for placing a product in a flexible package with a slider device.

The complaints were issued to Illinois Tool Works, Inc., (Glenview, IL), Pactiv Corp. (Lake Forest, IL), and Presto Products Co. (Appleton, WI), a business of Alcoa Consumer Products. The suits were filed in U.S. District Court in Indianapolis.
