FTC now taking input

The Flexible Packaging Assn. (FPA) plans to work actively with researchers at the New York State Waste Reduction and Management Institute to ensure they understand the source reduction benefits of flexible packaging.

The state legislature voted to expand the institute's purview to concentrate on waste reduction. The institute, which is based at the State University of New York at Stony Brook, is expected to recommend to governmental bodies cost effective waste reduction methods, serve as a clearing house for information on waste reduction and coordinate reduction efforts with businesses and government.
