Scholarship update

The Chicago-based Petroleum Packaging Council is funding a new scholarship for a Michigan State University junior and senior student electing to major in MSU's School of Packaging.

The applicant selected by the School's scholarship committee to receive the award will be granted $1ꯠ per semester during the balance of his or her undergrad term. Candidates must demonstrate financial need and must maintain an overall grade point average of 3.0. For more information, phone Dr. Bruce R. Harte at MSU. Elsewhere on the education front, the Packaging Education Forum, Herndon, VA, has issued $59ꯠ to 68 students at nine universities for academic year 1995 awards. The total combines PEF awards with those funded by Dow Chemical, Du Pont, PMMI and Sealed Air. PEF also has launched an aggressive membership drive to attract leading packaging companies to its "partnership." For more information about the program, phone PEF at 703/318-8975. Finally, the Flexible Packaging Educational Foundation, Washington, DC, announced January 13 that Dow Chemical Co. has become its charter donor. FPEF was established in 1994 to develop educational programs that describe packaging and its role in waste management. For more information, call FPA, 202/842-3880.
