API Foils announces the launch of its TA Series of products—a new line of over-printable cold-stamping metallic foils for narrow web presses. This development expands the company’s extensive line of lower-cost alternatives to hot-stamping foils.
API Foils also announces the North American release of an enhanced hot-stamping metallic foil product line, the MV-Plus Series, bringing outstanding luster and high-speed performance to the marketplace along with the economics needed to compete in today’s competitive market.
“As the industry progressively adopts cold foil technology as a means of adding aesthetic appeal at a moderate price, we have dedicated ourselves to offering the breadth of products the market needs,” states Chuck Hardy, API Foils Vice President of Sales NA. “This is why we have developed the TA Over-Printable Series—to give customers even more choices to deliver exceptional brand enhancement.”
The TA Series is comprised of over-printable foils designed to deliver production performance and versatility across a variety of machines and substrates while delivering the best combination of fine detail and broad area coverage. The product line is compatible with a wide range of UV inks and adhesives used in the flexo web-fed cold foiling process, resulting in good high-speed transfer.
These cold foil products offer many of the visual benefits of hot-stamping foils, but they can be applied without heat using many printing presses, can be used on shrink films and flexible packaging materials, and can be printed over applied cold foils. Offering the ability to add bright finish on text and graphics, the TA Over-Printable Series is a compelling option for use in labeling of wine and spirits, health and beauty products, personal care items, household and laundry products, and other fast-moving consumer goods.
The MV-Plus Series is a versatile option for brands seeking aesthetic appeal, as it is designed to be cleaner, more broadly applicable, and usable with a greater number of inks than alternative technologies. It exhibits excellent brightness and heat resistance, good adhesion over a wide range of substrates, wide-ranging area capability on coated stock, and over-printability when used in conjunction with ink systems designed for plastic adhesion.

The MV-Plus Series of products is recommended for use with coated and uncoated paper and board, as well as coated and treated films. Available in a range of bright, satin and matte silvers and golds, typical product applications for MV-Plus include cartons, publishing materials, and labels.
