Silgan Plastics has announced the construction of a new production facility in the City of Hazelwood, MO, a suburb of St. Louis, located in northwestern St. Louis County. This expansion is in addition to the recently announced greenfield facility in the Borough of North East, PA.
The facility further optimizes customer support and is logistically located to take on additional growth. Construction has begun on the approximately 335,000 square foot plant and will bring at least 120 new manufacturing jobs to the area. The facility is expected to be operational in late 2015.
Sarah Macdonald, President of Silgan Plastics explains, “The primary focus of the facility is to support the growth of existing long-term strategic customers, lower the overall operating cost of our manufacturing network, and to provide a platform for growth in target markets.”
Silgan would like to acknowledge Mayor Matthew Robinson, the Hazelwood City Council and the Economic Development Sales Tax Board whose support was invaluable in allowing this project to move forward. Silgan Plastics is a leading manufacturer of plastic containers in North America for a variety of markets, including personal care, food, health care and household and industrial chemical markets.
