At Pharmapack Europe, board and paper packaging supplier Edelmann won the Pharmapack Award for its phial (vial) folding carton packaging for homoeopathic medicinal products from Weleda Group, a Basel, Switzerland-based maker of all-natural skin and personal care, baby and mother care, and specialized medications.

Edelmann succeeded in winning the category “Ease of use and progress simplification.” The concept convinced the jury with its two-part, flat packaging that can be processed and filled automatically. For the manufacturer this means an economical and optimized production technique. The user receives simple and easy-to-handle packaging. The machine technology stems from partner Uhlmann Pac-Systeme.

The vial packaging had previously won the European ProCarton/ECMA Award 2012 as well as the German Packaging Prize 2012. Companies are awarded the Pharmapack Award for especially innovative packaging developments that support the safe application of medicinal products.

Pharmapack Europe is next scheduled for Feb. 12-13, 2014 at Porte De Versailles in Paris, France.
