Bestfoods has added a squeezable, clear PET container to its Hellman’s mayonnaise line, which is packaged in standard glass containers. The new 18-oz Big Squeeze container is topped off with a 0.250”-orificed polypropylene flip-top dispensing closure, pigmented in dark and light blue.

Whiskey decanter hits Europe
Brown-Forman Beverages Worldwide, Louisville, KY, used a fluted, flint bottle decorated with a white-and-gold applied ceramic label and a gold-plated medal to introduce the third, in its series of seven, Jack Daniel’s Tennessee Whiskey decanters. This third special decanter commemorates the gold medal that Jack Daniel’s Tennessee Whiskey won at the World Exposition in Ghent, Belgium, in 1913. It was introduced to the European market in November 2000.

Country of origin labeling a marketing, not a safety issue
Opponents of a bill, sponsored by Idaho Representative Helen Chenoweth-Hage requiring mandatory country-of-origin labeling for the livestock in meat and meat products, told a House Agriculture Subcommittee that such a requirement would impose significant burdens on the food industry, be extremely costly, and would damage U.S. ability to export its meats.
