The totes are molded with a recessed area for the RFID label. The washdown, freezer-ready, FDA-accepted totes withstand temperatures from –40F to 160F. The Gen 1 or Gen 2 RFID technology is provided through The Kennedy Group, which offers options from various RFID vendors. An ergonomic, three-position metal handle has no effect on RFID performance. The totes are available in several sizes and colors, though black is not a good choice for RFID applications. That's due to the carbon used in pigmentation, which can interfere with readability, according to a spokesman.
