GM food concerns remain

According to a study conducted by ABC News in early July, 55% of those surveyed said they would avoid buying GM foods if they were so labeled. Sixty-two percent of women would shun GM-labeled foods.

Ninety-two percent of respondents favored mandatory labeling for GM foods, and 85% supported the labeling of food from farm animals that had been fed antibiotics or hormones.

Concerns over the safety of GM foods appear to be lessening. Forty-six percent of those surveyed believed GM food is unsafe compared to 52% two years ago. Fifty-six percent of men believed GM food is safe, while 54% of women thought it is unsafe.
