House: Delay OHSA's ergonomics standard Biotech food labeling

Consumers Union, a leading consumer advocacy organization, is the latest to weigh in on behalf of special labeling of biotech foods. In what is shaping up as a national and international controversy, the organization called on the government to require labeling of any domestic or foreign food product containing genetically modified ingredients.

Meanwhile, the Japanese government announced in August that beginning April 2001, both genetically modified crops and food products must be specially labeled. The government has yet to decide exactly which products must bear the label.
