of Mobil Chemical (Pittsford, NY). The new look includes updated graphics and a clear pressure-sensitive label made of Mobil's Label-Lyte® oriented polypropylene. Introduced just over a year ago, the updated package remains in test in Chicago. "We wanted to see if the clear pressure-sensitive label would help sales enough to justify the cost upcharge," says Geoff Mayer, creative manager of packaging for Louisville, KY-based Brown Forman. The label construction consists of a 2-mil Label-Lyte OPP on a 1-mil polyester release liner. The label is flat-bed screen-printed in four colors. On the back panel is a glue-applied paper label. Seven sizes of Canadian Mist are available with the new OPP label, ranging from 100-mL to 1.75-L. Also winning a 1996 Pyramid Award is Colgate-Palmolive, Morristown, NJ, for its Soft Soap Aquarium Series (see Packaging World, Nov '96, p. 57). While the Pyramid Awards go to innovative users of Mobil Label-Lyte face stocks, Mobil's Golden Mummy Awards recognize excellence in the use of a Mobil OPP film in a packaging application. This year's Golden Mummy winners include Pepperidge Farm, Norwalk, CT, for its American Collection cookies; Ricola, Morris Plains, NJ, for Menthol Eucalyptus Herb Throat Drops; and Chicago-based Quaker Oats for Quaker Bagged Cereals.
