AstroNova®, Inc., a global expert in data visualization technology, announced the launch of the AstroJet® AJ-200, a compact, tabletop A3-wide digital inkjet printer engineered for direct-to-package printing on flat materials.
Showcased at the PACK EXPO Las Vegas 2025, the AJ-200 got a lot of attention from custom packaging suppliers, direct marketers, small-batch producers, and regulated industries.
Designed for short runs and rapid design changes, it delivers flexibility, speed, and high-quality wide-format overprinting with proven durability and efficiency.
“AstroNova’s goal is to enable sustainable printing for small and big brands that care as much about the planet as their packaging. The AstroJet® AJ-200 prints directly on a broad range of flat, ink-absorbent, sustainable materials, including cardboard, stand-up pouches, envelopes, coasters, and other rigid to semi-flexible substrates. It eliminates the need for separate labels, sleeves, or pre-printed stock and reduces material use, inventory requirements, and packaging waste”, said Padraig Finn, the Senior Vice-President of AstroNova Product Identification.
The AJ-200 delivers print speeds up to 27 meters per minute, resolution up to 1200 dpi, and supports feed widths up to 13.5 inches. The printer uses durable aqueous pigmented inks optimized for UV resistance, water fastness, and scratch durability, ensuring strong adhesion and vibrant image quality on both coated and uncoated substrates.
Manufactured in AstroNova’s Chicago, IL-based factory, the complete AJ-200 system integrates an automatic feeder, registration table, and catch tray to enable fast, unattended printing. A built-in touchscreen interface allows users to monitor status, adjust settings, and manage print jobs stored locally or from a connected computer.

- Restaurants, breweries, and retailers printing paper bags and boxes
