Designed specially for salty snack foods, Heat and Control’s (Hayward, CA) integrated weigher/form/fill/sealer combines the Atlas™ universal bagmaker and the Millennium™ multihead weigher into a single packaging system that produces filled bags at speeds to 200/min, while minimizing film waste.
Fasteners are sorted, individually counted by the optical-based units, and deposited into a 60?-long heavy-duty indexing bucket conveyor. The bol counter shown is one of 10 side-by-side units, plus two Thru-Wall bolt feeders‹that supply fasteners such as washers to a vf/f/s bagger at a rate to 40 filled buckets/min. Equipment was supplied by Batching Systems.
Roofing nails are distributed by a vibratory feeder to the vf/f/s cone, which spreads them to the ring of 14 sets of buckets. The computer-controlled buckets provide the nails three-buckets-at-a-time to the bagger and onto a takeaway conveyor at a rate to 40/min of the 50-count, 1.5-lb bags. Equipment was supplied by Batching Systems.
The RoboticStar KR180 PA CP case-packing/uncasing and palletizing robot from Aidco (Adrian, MI) handles plastic, glass, or metal containers. Robot can accommodate 2 to 7 packaging lines running multiple containers at speeds to 45 cases/min.
DT Packaging Systems (Leonminster, MA) offers a new blister machine that features rotary sealing, all servo controls, all stainless-steel construction, a compact footprint (4.2 meters long and 1.45 meters wide).
Markem Corp.’s (Keene, NH) expanded line of SmartDate® thermal-transfer coders offers a print speed of 5’/sec and an increased ribbon length of 2꾙’, said to reduce costs and increase uptime and efficiency by making ribbon changeover less frequent.
Sorting more than 41ꯠ items/hr, the QuadSorter™ from Rapistan (Grand Rapids, MI) features crossbelts that are divided into 4 cells. Each cell is a mini-belt conveyor that can operate independently or in sync with adjacent cells.
A drag chain pallet conveyor from Alba Manufacturing (Hamilton, OH) is well suited for heavy-pallet conveying for the beverage industry. Design can withstand jarring fork truck unloads while transferring a 2-ton load from the palletizer to the shipping dock.
The Circle liquid servo-controlled f/f/s system from Circle Packaging Machinery (Green Bay, WI) provides multilane, continuous motion, and 4-sided seal formatting with the capability of handling high production rates for personal care liquids or food related products.
BST Pro Mark (Elmhurst, IL) has introduced the LS300 laser bar code inspection system. Machine performs 100% inspection on a range of bar code types at normal printing press speeds, both repeating and sequential, and ensures conformance with ISO specification 15416.
George Gordon Associates (Merrimack, NH) has released the Model GPS-10N wrapping system with full networking capability. The geometric packaging system provides solutions for multi-item kit packaging, using Ethernet interface for plant networking and remote internet diagnostic support.
ID Technology (Fort Worth, TX) high-resolution ink-jet printing system prints, scans, and verifies bar codes on 2 sides of box or carton. Four or more print heads are mounted directly onto a modular industrial conveyor.
