Bottles double as learning tools

In launching a healthful beverage choice for families with children, Drink Blocks LLC of Ladera Ranch, CA, opted for containers that become both a collectible toy and a bilingual learning tool.

Available in three flavors, apple, fruit punch, and orange, these naturally-flavored waters include zero calories and zero sugar. Each bottle features patent-pending molded-in interlocking nubs and grooves on both sides that connect securely with other Drink Block bottles to let children build almost anything they can imagine. At the same time, the bottles’ attractive colorful bilingual labels feature licensed television characters––like the Disney Channel’s Chuggington, which airs on Disney Junior television––and words, numbers, and letters in both Spanish and English. The labels give children the opportunity to learn as they play.

Drink Blocks President and CEO Tom Weiss describes his unique product as  “Hydration for the Imagination,” and declares it “Parent approved and kid desired.”

“Because producing the interlocking and connecting features on the Drink Blocks bottles was difficult,” he adds, “we had to choose a packaging partner that could meet that challenge. TricorBraun was a critical partner, with the experience to bring the final package concept to life.”

Safety for the children and reduced impact on the environment were also important considerations during development of the Drink Blocks bottles and closures, which were designed and sourced by TricorBraun. The 8-oz bottles are extrusion blow molded of recyclable BPA-free high-density polyethylene by Axium. Aptar Group makes the 38-mm flip-top locking closure and the bottles are sealed with an induction seal beneath the closure.

Hammer Packaging makes the colorful pressure-sensitive labels, and the full-color corrugated B-flute four-pack trays are by the Smurfit Kappa Group. All creative work was done by Drink Block’s brand development agency Nonbox.
