Lighter container weights are also appreciated by the women who are likely to carry these products in their business travels. The container comes in 4.8-, 30-, and 200-mL sizes.
All three sizes are injection molded of DuPont Surlyn PC350. Ileos executed all design and engineering details and then outsourced the manufacturing of the containers. From an innovation standpoint, Ileos claims the containers could not have been produced without considerable “research and a variety of tests in injection molding” so that it was possible to produce “a dimensionally stable thick-wall part without shrinkage.”
Closures were also designed and engineered by Ileos and made by a subcontractor. The 48-mL closure is compression molded urea and is given decorative touches of metallization and hot stamping. A friction-fit liner is the cap’s second part.
The closures for the 30- and 200-mL containers have three parts. An outer section is compression molded ABS and an inner portion is injection molded PP glued to the ABS part. The friction-fit liner is the same as for the other closures in the line. —Pat Reynolds
