New 'shake-n-pour' lidstock on a plastic cup lets consumers shake or pour crushed pepper or parmesan cheese onto their pizza. The cup is placed into a die-cut area on corrugated pizza boxes for Papa John's pizza deliveries and carry-outs.
The Packaging Design Council Intl. has changed its name to the Brand Design Assn. (BDA). The change comes, says the group, in response to the changing dynamics of package design, where branding strategy and design have become the dominant criteria.
In the wake of last year's Asian currency crisis, packaging markets for plastic are expected to bounce back sooner than other economic sectors. That's due largely to the ongoing nature of consumer demand for non-durables, especially for food products.
