The National Association of Container Distributors (NACD), a nonprofit trade association that serves as a central hub for networking and education within the packaging distribution industry, announced the appointment of Gary Saltz as president of the organization, effective immediately.

“It’s a tremendous honor to serve as president of such a prestigious organization in the packaging distribution industry. I come from a family packaging business that spans nearly a century and have always been passionate about this industry,” said Gary Saltz, Senior Vice President, Manufacturing Operations, TricorBraun Canada. “With the NACD recently celebrating its 100th anniversary, it’s also meaningful that TricorBraun has been part of that legacy. I’m proud to be the fourth TricorBraun executive to serve as NACD President, carrying on the spirit of those who came before me.”

As president, Saltz will focus on expanding membership to the next generation of packaging and distribution leaders while also enhancing engagement among current members through robust education programs and other strategic initiatives. He will also oversee NACD’s flagship events, including the annual meeting and two trade shows.

“NACD’s century-long history is a testament to the enduring strength and impact of the distribution channel in packaging,” added Saltz. “We continue to be a driving force in connecting distributors and suppliers, and there are many meaningful advantages of membership, particularly when it comes to helping businesses stay competitive. Our commitment to developing future leaders ensures the strength and success of our industry.”

Saltz brings extensive packaging distribution experience to his role as president. He, along with his brothers, founded Salbro Bottle Inc. in 1988, building it into a respected packaging business in Canada before it was acquired by TricorBraun in 2017. Before launching Salbro Bottle Inc., the Saltz brothers operated a packaging business in South Africa, established by their grandfather nearly 100 years ago.

Salbro Bottle Inc. became eligible for NACD membership in 2012. Saltz quickly emerged as an active contributor, joining the NACD Industry Advisory Council Subcommittee in 2013 and being appointed to the NACD Board of Directors in 2017.
