Heidenhain Corporation: Heidenhain Corporation: Linear Encoder Updates

Heidenhain’s LC Series absolute linear encoders have been redesigned from the ground up to better meet today’s measurement requirements in machine tools and now include 2 interfaces--the company’s EnDat 2.2 and FANUC 02.

New Encoders are the LC 183 and 483 series with EnDat interface and LC 193 and 493 with FANUC interface. All offer electrical advantages, including enabling purely serial axis control. Resolution of the absolute postion value is 5 nm for encoders with an accuracy grade of +/- 3 microns and 10 nm for accuracy grade of +/- 5 microns with the EnDat versions. Data word length is 32 bits regardless of measuring length, and clock frequency is 8 MHz. Both output formats incorporate single-field scanning technique.
