Built on the proven Octopus ring technology, and named as Octopus GP, the new machine features a global platform with several technological innovations for operation, maintenance and safety.

“The new Octopus GP is a result of a long research and development work. As we are committed to understand our customers’ needs more thoroughly, we analyzed their feedback and combined that with our own, over 30 years of experience of manufacturing automatic stretch wrapping machines. The new Octopus GP offers several benefits and enables more cost-efficient, safer and reliable operation for our customers’ packaging lines. It enables increased layout flexibility and gives clear savings in total cost of ownership by energy savings and minimized downtime. The operation is extremely easy, as the OctoFACE HMI guides the user with visual instructions by using the Point-to-Point technology, and for instance the film loading is very easy with our new Easy Load S-carriage.” explains Jari Paavola, Managing Director of Haloila.

The new Octopus GP has several innovations in its design:

• Optimal machine speed, so called Smart speed, is based on a real production demand and has a complete speed optimization in all movements. Additionally the self-diagnostic enables continuous monitoring of all machine movements for safe and reliable use.

• No Touch No Tail Film Seaming leaves no hazardous film tails and prevents the seaming device from touching the load itself. The load width is measured automatically as the pallet enters the machine.

• The revolutionary Point-to-point tool technology gives optimized and unlimited number of alternatives in wrapping methods offering increased flexibility and clear, visual guiding.

• For easy operation there are an unlimited number of user profiles, each with individual password and permission level. With the help of an Audit Trail, the changed settings can easily be tracked.

• The new easy load S-carriage enables extremely easy loading of a new film reel; simply attach the film end to the fixing device. The “S” wrap pattern also improves pre-stretch levels, handles a variety of films better and significantly lowers the overall cost of ownership.

• Instructions regarding the operation, maintenance, and safety, are available via QR codes fixed to the designated locations in the machine.

• There are no motors on top of the machine so all preventive maintenance work can be done without needing specialist access equipment.
