Krones, Inc.: Blow-fill bloc for non-carbonated water in PET

Krones offers a Blow-Fill BLOC for filling PET bottles with non-carbonated water. PET bottles are produced in the Contiform S20 stretch blow molding machine and immediately filled by the VO-DM-PET filler and then capped, without a rinser or air conveyors.

The bottles are transferred between the blow molder and filler by neck handling starwheels.

Utilizing flow meters, diaphragm valves, and electro-pneumatic controls for all phases of the filling process, the VO-DM-PET filler provides accurate filling of non-carbonated water. The smooth, hygienic product path ensures easy cleaning. The neck-handling system in the filler guarantees gentle treatment of lightweight PET bottles and provides multiple bottle size capabilities. A filler model with base support is available.

The BLOC configuration provides several advantages. No air conveyors or blowers are required. Therefore, bottle contamination is reduced since this system does not include the many transfer points between the blow molder, bottle scrambler, air conveyors, rinser, and then the filler. Based on the BLOC configuration, it is not necessary for pretreatment rinsing of the bottles. The BLOC synchronization of the blow molder and the filler also reduces production costs by reducing start-up losses and ensuring shorter changeover times. Personnel costs are reduced because a single operator handles both machines. Efficiency is improved due to shorter distances between machines and a user-friendly centrally located control panel.
