Plastic Technologies, Inc. (PTI), a global leader in polyethylene terephthalate (PET) package development, announces its new Shelf-Ready modeling capability. Shelf-Ready modeling provides brand owners with a wide variety of “water clear” or tinted plastic container prototypes closely resembling final production pieces.

Shelf-Ready appearance models will now give marketers the ability to evaluate package (such as bottles, containers, thermoforms, etc.) concepts in a form that closely approximates production versions. These models are significantly less expensive than clear Lucite models and provide a far better impression than opaque models.

Appearance package models can be filled, labeled, and closures applied to create containers that can be used for shelf simulation, aesthetics and physical impression, as well as for consumer focus groups. Models can be produced within five-to-seven days, compared to the several weeks needed to build a prototype mold and manufacture actual physical samples.

“PTI’s Shelf-Ready capability pushes modeling to a new level. Marketers typically only have access to opaque bottle prototypes,” says Rob Groll, director, design services. “While those can be useful, they do not allow marketers to observe package characteristics in a close-to-final visual iteration. We believe that the capability will shave both time and cost off of the package development process.”

PTI’s latest modeling capability, complements the company’s full line of global package development and testing services offered via its United States and European operations.
