PDC Europe, which developed this new sleeve material and calls it “Skin Evolution,” says it’s a stretch sleeve technology that uses no heat. The material is a rubber of some sort, it’s embossed, and it’s supplied to the end-user pre-formed. A specialized semi-automatic applicator developed by PDC is used to stretch the sleeve over the bottle. PDC says its novel decorating concept is aimed at high-end applications but not limited to glass bottles of champagne. Health and beauty and cosmetics applications, says PDC, are also targeted.
