After 18 months of development, the slider closure from Pactiv (Lake Forest, IL) is applied to flexible pouches of cheese on a horizontal form/fill/seal machine at Sargento Foods, Plymouth, WI. Existing horizontal f/f/s equipment was retrofitted to apply the Slide-Rite slider closure.
The retrofit unit is mounted between the unwind stand and the folding board on the f/f/s unit. The slider is applied onto the track, termination strips are applied on both ends of the track and assembled track is applied onto the film. Reportedly, registration tolerance of +/- 1/64” was achieved.
