Three-sided pouch wrapper

REPORTING FROM PACK EXPO: A new SIG HSF wrapper was unveiled from SIG Pack Systems. Kraft (Glenview, IL) has two machines producing its new Deli Deluxe line of cheese. Reclosability is achieved through online zipper-band application onto the film.

The wrapper is designed based on an inverted horizontal pillow pack machine that produces three-sided seal pouches. Two overlap seams create the pouch; graphic areas are free of an unsightly seam. Kraft runs the metallized film structure of the 16-oz Kraft cheese package on the wrapper at 170 wraps/min.

According to SIG Pack (Raleigh, NC), the packaging style yields economical advantages in regards to zipper and film material savings compared to conventional zipper packages.
